New Farmers Market
to open later this month

The city's new 12,000-square-foot Farmer's Market will be open soon. City employees are putting the finishing touches on the building and grounds. A ribbon-cutting ischeduled for March 25 at 10 a.m.

Police officer welcomed home
after deployment
Mayor Kenneth W. Boswell welcomed home Enterprise Police Officer Alan Hendrix March 3 at the City Council meeting, where Hendrix and his family were presented with the yellow ribbon that had been displayed in city hall since Hendrix’s deployment with his National Guard unit to Afghanistan last April. The city displays a yellow ribbon for every employee who is away for military deployment and presents the ribbon as a tribute to them upon their return. Mayor Boswell and Police Chief T.D. Jones both expressed their appreciation to Hendrix for his service both the community and his country. They also thanked Hendrix’s family, including his daughter, Alanna, his wife Cindy and mother Tammy Nichols, for their sacrifice during his deployment. (City of Enterprise photo)

Bobby Harlin were honored by the City Council March 3 with "Extra Mile" awards for going above and beyond the call of duty in two separate incidence. City celebrates Farmers Market facility opening

Glen Zorn, assistant commissioner of the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries, joined city leaders and local farmers Wednesday morning to commemorate the completion and opening of the new $1.2 million Enterprise Farmers Market facility. Farmers relocating to new facility

Locally-grown produce is now available at the new Enterprise Farmers Market facility. Farmers began relocating Saturday, March 28. and will be at the 525 N. Main St. location on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Peak market season will begin in late May. For more click on the link below:
College Street students enjoy airport tour

Students from College Street Elementary School enjoyed a tour of the Enterprise Municipal Airport one day recently. Airport officials said they were happy to host the youngsters, who earned a field trip by reaching their goals in the Accelerated Reader program. They spent the morning at the Enterprise Recreation Complex and the afternoon at the airport. In the accompanying photos, pilot and airport hangar tenants Bob Hanson and Les Brusse showed the students the experimental airplanes that they actually built, and gave them fun and informative information about how airplanes fly. ALERT: Portion of Pittman Street closed April 6-8
April 1, 2015
Enterprise Department of Public Works officials are advising motorists that Pittman Street will be partially closed April 6-8 for rehabilitation of a section of railroad tracks.
Pittman Street will be closed from N. Main Street south to Dominey Street Monday through Wednesday while CSX Railroad personnel make the railroad repairs. The work is part of an ongoing effort by CSX to improve the railroad tracks throughout Enterprise.
Officials said the rehabilitation project possibly could be completed by Wednesday morning, and if so, barricades closing off the street during the work duration will be removed to allow traffic to resume along that section of the street.
Motorists are urged to use caution in the area and use alternative routes until the road is reopened.

Children's Festival in the Park coming up May 2
April 22, 2015
The award-winning Children's Festival in the Park is set for Saturday, May 2, at the Enterprise Recreational Complex from 2 p.m. until after the fireworks show after the sun sets.
Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy a variety of free fun and games presented by the Enterprise Department of Parks and Recreation along with a number of businesses and organizations. Activities will include inflatables, face painting, pony rides and a petting zoo. Food vendors will also be on hand.

School Resource Officers Adair Lee, left, and Angela Brown, right were recognized at the April 21 city council meeting by Enterprise High School Principal Matt Rodgers and Police Chief T.D. Jones. Rodgers thanked the officers, saying they demonstrate professionalism, dedication and genuine caring for the Enterprise students.

Dauphin Street repairs
put skate park plans on hold

Mayor Kenneth Boswell told city council members April 21 that the resurfacing of Dauphin Street has priority over skate park plans at this time. He explained that the city has been working with the Alabama Department of Transportation for four years on the project and that for reasons beyond the city's control, the project has been delayed several times.

Enterprise Firefighter Scott Stewart puts out a hot spot where flames were trying to reoccur at a mobile home fire April 28. The fire destroyed a vacant trailer at Endale Estates.
