Enterprise native Sonya Wheeler Rich was appointed to the Enterprise City Council in June 2017 to represent District 1.
Councilwoman Rich is a 1992 graduate of Enterprise High School and attended Tuskegee University. She graduated from Auburn University in 2000 with a Bachelor or Arts degree in Psychology. She received a Master's Degree in Educational Psychology from Capella University in 2013. She has been employed with the State of Alabama at Coffee County DHR since 2008.
Councilwoman Rich is married to J.L. Rich, and is a member of Greater New Life Baptist Church. She is a member of the Semper Fidelis Club of Enterprise and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
She recites her favorite quote as, "It is nice to be important, but it is more important to be nice." The Councilwoman is honored to be a member of the City Council and to serve District 1 and all of the people of Enterprise. She said she will approach the job with the philosophy she tries to live by, which is "striving to do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but sensibly, in humility, always considering the needs of all mankind."
In her leisure, Councilwoman Rich enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking for her family, traveling with her husband, and attending Auburn football games.
District 2
Eugene Goolsby

Eugene Goolsby was elected to the Enterprise City Council in August 2016 to represent District 2.
Councilman Goolsby is a 1965 graduate of Dothan High School and a 1969 graduate of Troy State University with a B.S. degree in education. He recently retired from Goolsby Bros. Plumbing & Electrical, Inc., after 37 years as a small business owner.
He and his wife, Charlene, have been married for almost 50 years and have two sons and six grandchildren.
By example through the years, Councilman Goolsby has demonstrated his belief in the value of public service. He supports the business community through membership in the Enterprise Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Business Association, the Wiregrass Economic Development Corp., and the Business Council of Alabama.
His community service activities include active membership of the St. Luke United Methodist Church and the Westside Neighborhood Association; the Enterprise Lions Club, serving as president in 1999; a member of the Enterprise Health and Rehabilitation Board of Directors; a Relay for Life volunteer for 24 years; and a Habitat for Humanity volunteer/sponsor for 16 years.
"Public service is about being sensitive and responsive to the needs of the people," he says, adding that a priority of his role as a council member is "to fulfill the duties of the office to the best of my ability, and at all times, do what I believe is fair and just for all."
For his many years of service, Goolsby has earned numerous awards, including recognition by the Alabama House of Representatives for Community Service in 2009. He was chosen as Enterprise Man of the Year in 1999 and was Enterprise Chamber of Commerce Retiree of the Year in 2014. In 2003, the Enterprise Chamber of Commerce recognized his business as the Retail Business of the Year, and in 1983 and 1997, the Enterprise Home Builders Association named him Associate of the Year.
District 3
Perry Vickers is in his first year as councilman representing District 3, having been elected in August 2016.
A 1965 graduate of Enterprise High School, Councilman Vickers has a Bachelor's degree in History Education, and a certification in Guidance and Counseling, a Master's Degree in School Administration and Supervision, and an AA (ED.S) in School Administration and Supervision, all from Troy University.
Councilman Vickers is a retired teacher, school administrator, and minister. He was employed in the Enterprise City School System for 38 years. During those years he served as a history teacher, guidance counselor, coach, assistant principal and principal. He was an assistant principal at Enterprise High School for five years and principal of Dauphin Junior High School for 18 years.
After serving 18 years in the active ministry, he is now retired from the United Methodist Church.
Councilman Vickers says he is happy to be serving the people of District 3 and throughout the City of Enterprise. Among his priorities is transparency in government operation.
"Transparency should not be as the council feels it needs to be, but how the citizens want it to be," he says.
District 5

Enterprise native Turner Townsend became a councilman serving his hometown in November 2016 after winning election to the District 5 seat the previous August.
Councilman Townsend is a graduate of Enterprise High School, and graduated from Auburn University with honors in 2004 with a degree in Building Science.
While at Auburn, he met his wife Lucy, whom he married upon graduation. The couple have three daughters, 9-year-old Virginia, 7-year-old Mary Austin and 3-year-old Alice.
Councilman Townsend owns and operates his family business, Townsend Building Supply, with his brother Michael. He is a lifelong active member of First Baptist Church of Enterprise, where he serves as a deacon.
Active in community and public service roles, he is a member of the Enterprise Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors; is chairman of the Coffee County United Way; is on the Board of Trustees of the Wiregrass United Way; and is a member of the board of directors of the Construction Suppliers Association of Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana.
In his spare time, Councilman Townsend enjoys golf, Auburn football, and spending time at the lake with family and friends.
District 4
Wallace 'Al' Miller, Jr.

Wallace "Al" Miller Jr. is the senior member currently serving on the Enterprise City Council with 25 years’ experience.
"Because I have been honored to serve on the city council for a quarter of a century, I have a unique understanding of the day-to-day operations of the city as well as the goals that the city and its citizens have been able to reach," Miller says. "I'm proud of the improvements we have made to prepare our city for success in the future and I want to keep working to move Enterprise forward."
Miller, the son of Dr. and Mrs. Wallace Miller, is a native of Enterprise and a graduate of Enterprise High School and Troy State University. He and his wife, Allison Chancey Miller, have two children, Jon Wallace and Anna Catherine. The owner of Miller Alarm Electronics and Invisible Fence, Miller is also a member and deacon at First Baptist Church of Enterprise, a member of the Enterprise Chamber of Commerce, a Mason and Shriner.
A member of the Fort Rucker-Wiregrass Chapter of the Association of the U.S. Army, Miller is committed to maintaining a strong relationship with Fort Rucker.
"I support and am thankful for Fort Rucker, its personnel, active duty, civilian personnel and retirees," Miller says.. "They have contributed positively to our city through the years."
Councilman Miller is proud of his longtime service on the council - his record of attendance, hard work and a cooperative working relationship with other government officials and agencies as they all strive to make Enterprise a better place to live.
Miller understands the importance of a high-quality education and has established a supportive role in working with the city school system and Enterprise State Community College. He has served during a period of substantial business and industrial growth in recent years and will continue to support economic and industrial development.
